Maintenance

Maintenance Dos and Don'ts

To minimise the risk of being charged extra fees for properties rented through our guaranteed rent scheme, please read through the advice and tips for tenants listed below:

BLOCKED SINKS

Take care with what you put down the sink. Do not put excessive food debris including rice, fat and oil down your sink as they can cause your sink to block

If your sink becomes blocked we advise that you obtain a domestic drain clearance product from a local DIY store and follow the instructions carefully.

ELECTRICAL HEATERS

If you have electrical storage radiators please ensure that you do not put any items such as clothes on them as they will overheat and stop working. You will be charged the cost of resetting the heaters.

ELECTRICAL SOCKETS NOT WORKING

The most common reason for sockets not working is due to faulty appliance having been used in them. We advise you to first unplug your electrical appliance and then re-set any fuses.

FLOODING

If you live in a flat and experience a severe flood from the flat above you are advised to alert the occupier of the flat above and if necessary ring the Fire Brigade. Please also inform DABORACONWAY as soon as possible.

BLOCKED TOILETS

You may be able to unblock a toilet with a household plunger. Do not flush Sanitary Towels or Nappies down a toilet as this is a common cause of blockage.

MICE AND OTHER INFESTATIONS

As a general rule it is the responsibility of the tenant to deal with mice and other infestations.

MISSED APPOINTMENTS

If you fail to keep an appointment with a contractor you will be charged a call out fee.

NB: If you require further advice and assistance on ANY of the matters above please contact
DABORACONWAY 020 8989 5678 and ask for maintenance or your property supervisor.
